PARKING RULES & INFORMATION
Please be aware of the following parking information and general parking restrictions in town, where there is no parking signage. Improper parking on public streets can lead to a violation.
*PARKING IS PROHIBITED ON ALL TOWN STREETS UNLESS OTHERWISE POSTED*
Town of Breckenridge ordinances prohibit stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle in the following places:
Pedestrian Way: Vehicles are not allowed to park on or across a sidewalk or crosswalk. Vehicles are not allowed to park within 10 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection.
Fire Hydrant: Vehicles may not park within 15 feet of a fire hydrant. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Too close to a Stop Sign or Traffic Signal: Vehicles may not park within 15 feet of a stop sign or traffic light.
Railroad Crossing: Vehicles may not park within 15 feet of the nearest rail of a railroad crossing.
Blocked Driveway: Vehicles are not allowed to park in front of a public or private driveway, including parking to encroach upon the radius of the driveway. This includes in front of or in any alley. You may stop in an alley to load or unload freight or merchandise.
Parking on Private Property: Parking in yards and on driveways generates many calls and complaints to the Town of Breckenridge. Here are some rules to keep in mind:
· The only acceptable parking spots in the front yard are on a private driveway or driveway approach.
· Your vehicle may not extend over any portion of the sidewalk or into the street.
· Your vehicle must display a current license.
· The vehicle must be maintained in a drivable condition.
Prohibited Parking:
No Parking Zones and No Parking Here to Corner: No part of your vehicle can park past the sign.
The Town of Breckenridge provides signed ADA parking spots in accordance with the Colorado State Statutes, 42-3-204 and 42-4-1208, and is compliant with all ADA requirements. Due to excessive snowfall 9 months out of the year, all parking signs are required by the Town Code to be 7 feet above the sidewalk, which is higher than what might be found in warm weather locations. Persons with disabilities who have a valid ADA license plate or placard, may park in any public or private designated ADA spot, but the parking of such vehicles is subject to any fee imposed in such area. Any person found to have violated the ADA parking regulations shall be fined $100.00. If the fine is not paid within 10 days of being issued, a late fee of $30.00 will be added. Please see the parking map for locations of ADA parking spots.
The only parking placard exempt from paying for parking is the purple Remuneration Exempt Disability Parking Placard in Colorado. Please see the parking map for locations of ADA parking spots.
Starting November 1, 2025, oversized vehicles over 20' are not permitted. Vehicles must fit into one parking space, this includes cars, trucks or any vehicles with trailers attached.
